If you’re on a beauty budget like myself, the drugstore is the plug for your makeup and skincare needs. Lots of brands have become hip to putting more of their products on the shelves so the average consumer can go and shop for what they need. I probably own and use more drugstore products in my routine than I do those that are considered higher end. In this post I’m giving you some of my favorite drugstore products that I love and that won’t hurt your pockets.

Foundation and Complexion
In my opinion, Maybelline makes some of the best foundations out there. Their FitMe line comes in matte or dewy finish and the coverage and feel of the foundation is fantastic. They’ve expanded their shade range since the line first dropped several years ago and most drugstores carry a wide range of them. The price point for this foundation is between 6 and 7 dollars.
Next is Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. This concealer is phenomenal for covering dark under eye circles. It does a great job brightening and making eyes look less tired. This bomb concealer retails for about $7.99 and comes in seven shades. Both of these can be purchased at Ulta: https://shopstyle.it/l/bqoaA
Eyes
E.L.F. has quickly become one of my favorite drugstore brands. Not only is it crazy affordable, but the quality is also top notch. The bite sized eyeshadow collection is one of the best releases from this brand in the last year. Not only are they affordable, retailing at just $3 but the pigment is amazing. My favorite from this collection is the Hot Jalapeno, the vibrant green and yellow shades are perfect for summer. There are 8 palettes in total ranging from purples to neutral, something for everyone. If you’re on a budget, these eyeshadows should definitely be in your collection. https://www.milanicosmetics.com/products/baked-blush
Blush & Bronzer
I became a fan of Milani Cosmetics when I started using their nude lipstick in the shade Teddy Bare. However, Milani has some very pigmented and Brown girl friendly blushes on the market. The Baked Blushes come in 8 shades ranging from pale pink to an electric coral. These blushes are in a powder formula, but apply smooth and without streaks. My favorite shade is Luminoso, peach with a satin finish, perfect for this time of year. This blush retails for just $7.99 on the Milani website: https://www.milanicosmetics.com/products/baked-blush
Bronzers are all the rage right now, and the summer is the perfect time to try them. Milani wins again with their Silky Matte Bronzer in the shade Sun Tan. Wearing this bronzer on your cheeks gives you a sun kissed look all year round. In my opinion, this is a great affordable to the NARS Laguna bronzer. This retails on Milani and at Ulta for $9.99. https://www.ulta.com/silky-matte-bronzing-powder?productId=pimprod2003044
Lips
Lastly, the trend for pops of color on the lips is back for spring and summer. In my Spring 2021 makeup trends blog post, I told you guys that vibrant lips will be the thing to have this spring and I wasn’t wrong. Check out that post here: https://beautybylmarie.com/2021/03/03/spring-2021-beauty-trends-whats-hot-whats-not/
The vibrant pink shade called Playmate from The Lip Bar will be the perfect addition to your stash. This is not too bright, but not too bubblegum and it looks good on a variety of skin tones. You can shop the color here: https://thelipbar.com/pages/go?ref=4441:56173&discount=EB348562B16&utm_source=Affiliates&utm_medium=Homepage
If liquid lipstick is not your thing, lip glosses have shown up in a major way. Recently NYX released some new colors in the Butter Gloss collection that you should definitely consider buying. The iconic and TikTok famous shade Cinnamon Roll is back in rotation just in time for summer. This is another Brown girl friendly nude gloss, and can be worn over lipstick or alone. Cinnamon roll is cult favorite for a reason. Check out all shades of the NYX Butter Gloss here:
These are just a few brands to mention, but try exploring your drugstore for some great bargains. A lot of the brands are becoming (finally) brown-girl friendly so options in most stores should be plentiful.
Let me know some of your drugstore favorite brands and products. Are there any products that I should add to my stash?
