The holidays are over and we’re deep in the trenches of winter. That means it’s time for my winter makeup trends list and it’s a good one. 2023 saw an influx of makeup trends from Latte to Sugar Plum Fairy Although the names were a bit corny, they were both gorgeous and wearable makeup looks. 2024 makeup trends, specifically for winter range from dewy skin, to jade colored eyelids and I’m excited to try them all.
As I always notes, trends are fun and you can always feel free to make them your own. Also, you don’t have to follow every trend if it doesn’t appeal to you, the classics work just fine.

Seeing Red
Red lipstick is my love language, I can wear it all day and never get tired of it. However, this winter the red makeup trend goes beyond lipstick. Getting creative with wearing red on your cheeks and eyelids will have you looking and feeling saucy. I recently fell in love with a red blush, the Ami Cole Dessert Dream Multi Stick in the shade Flame. It’s a multi-stick that you can use all over your face for a pop of color. If you want to go bolder, go for the Danessa Myricks Colorfix Eye Lip & Cheek Pigment in Primary Red. This is a makeup pigment that can be used for a wash of color on your eyelids and cheeks, even on your lips. Now if you’re just venturing in to wearing red at all, start slow and try a red lipstick. Get Your Glow On
In the winter, the last thing you may consider wearing is a glowing cheek highlight. But let me tell you a little secret, winter is the perfect time to look lit from within. Starting with a makeup primer like the ELF Halo Glow Liquid Filter which works as a highlighter and filter all in one. To make your cheeks pop, I like the classic MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighter in the shade Gold Deposit. You can put this on your brow bone and the top of your cheeks for a sunkissed, woke up like this glow.
Make A Statement
We all love a good winged eyeliner, it’s a classic that looks good on everyone. But this winter we can zhuzh up our eyeliner by making graphic and bold lines on our eyelids. Try different color eyeliner pencils like the Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in a cobalt blue or a vivid yellow. If you’re wearing a graphic eyeliner, let your eyes be the focus and keep the rest of your makeup minimal.
So Cheeky
It’s no secret that I love blush. Like, I REALLY love blush, my makeup is not complete my blush is in place. The “cold girl” makeup trend was all about your cheeks looking like you just came in from the cold. Your cheeks will still be a standout this winter by adding a pigmented, liquid blush. A recent favorite is the ELF Camo Liquid Blush, a more affordable option to the Rare Beauty blush. Take a one or two dots of the blush and blend on top of your cheek upwards to the temple. All Eyes On You
If you’re not one to be bothered with a big eyeshadow palette, this trend is for you. Jewel tones on the eyes are the perfect pop of color for the cold months. Like the graphic eyeliner, a swipe of bold color from an eyeshadow stick is all you need. Colorful Eyeshadow Sticks are a one and done way add color to your lids without a lot of fuss.
I hope you enjoyed this brief detailing some of this year’s winter makeup trends. I know I’ll be adding a few of these to my makeup routine and posting all of the photos.
Let me know what trends you’re loving this season in the comments.
