“Relax, relate, release”- Debbie Allen, The Great.

What a year 2020 has been. Because of the global pandemic, quarantine, mental and physical anguish and the economic stress for so many, saying this year was a lot is an understatement. However, if you’re reading this, we’ve made it. It may be in many pieces, but all of those pieces are still here.

There has been much talk about end of the year goals, and getting ready to go head first into 2021. I do believe that setting goals, manifesting and working toward what you want works wonders. However, I’ve had time to think about what I really want to accomplish in these last 8 days, and that is to REST. I have been going non stop since January, and once quarantine hit, I revved up my work one hundred fold. It has paid off for me in my consistency, my content has improved tremendously and I’ve connected with some great people. But no lie, I’m a little worn out. I took off work for the remainder of the year, that’s a full 10 days of paid time off (hallelujah) and decided that being off work would mean I would be OFF. Logging off, enjoying this quiet time, watching all of the corny Christmas movies I can stand, and eating some good food. My first thought of course was, ‘I must create, gotta stay on top of my content, post every day, etc…” But girl, I need a nap.

I’m taking this time off to reset and get ready for the next phase of my blogging journey. And what I realized is that this is totally OK. I’m not worried about my engagement numbers going down (Instagram is on that B.S anyway) or losing readers or followers. I am worried about the quality of my work suffering because I’m tired or not focused. So the rest, the days off is my gift to myself. I’m coming back in the new year stronger than ever, promoting myself shamelessly (you can read about how I did that here: https://beautybylmarie.com/2020/12/10/shameless-plug/) and taking up space.

I hope that my readers have a great holiday season, no matter what that may look like for you. And I look forward to connecting with you, lord willing in the new year. Stay tuned, I have some things up my sleeve and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to take a nap.

Have a happy and restful holiday season!

XOXO-Lydia Marie
