Summer is my favorite season. The long hot days, endless sunshine, the humidity, I love it all. Growing up in the Midwest where winters could last upwards of five months, I always looked forward to the time when the weather broke and the sun came out to stay. Summertime memories of traveling with my brother down to the Eastern Shore of Maryland where we would stay with our Granny and cousins all summer long, being outdoors until we were called inside when the street lights came on. Almost of all my favorite memories took place in the summer.
One of my favorite things to do in the summer is swim, or be near any type of water. The beach, a pool, anywhere that I can stretch out and feel the sun on my legs while working on my tan is an ideal day for me. Finding the perfect swimsuit to show off my curves and tan line is always an adventure. Plus size swimwear sometimes leans towards the unattractive, unflattering and enormous flowers to “hide” your assets. I have to search long and hard for a suit that is both flattering and sexy. My first choice is normally a two piece with a boy short and a cute cover-up. This year, I ventured from my comfort zone and purchased a one piece, one shoulder suit from Old Navy. I have never purchased swimwear from Old Navy, and since everything is online shopping right now, I couldn’t try it on until I received it in the mail. I was blown away by how well the suit fit and how cute and very sexy it is. Once we are able to fully immerse ourselves into outside and enjoy summertime by the pool, I will be ready in this beautiful bathing suit. I paired this with a kimono that I’ve had for years and purchased from Target and since this suit is black, any color or pattern cover up will pair nicely. Bathing suits, especially plus size suits do not have to be boring and they certainly don’t need to cover it all. This suit is on www.oldnavy.com. and retails for $38.00
Here’s to a wonderful, memory filled, hot summer.
