To say I have a ton of skincare products is an understatement. My bathroom counter and some of my linen closet is filled with creams, serums, face washes and toner. I decided to taken an inventory of my top products that I reach for daily. It was hard to narrow them down, and some items that I use the most didn’t make the cut. Here are my top skincare products for mature skin.
Since I’m in my 40’s and my skin is maturing, I have a few top products that I keep coming back to.
To note, my skin is normal to dry with some hyper-pigmentation. I do not have wrinkles, but a few fine lines under my eyes. I’m not acne prone but will have a hormonal breakout along my chin. For this reason, I’m big on having hydrating products in both my morning and evening routine. I also exfoliate two to three times a week and wear my SPF. This list contains

- Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant– Probably my most repurchased skincare product, the P’s Choice liquid 2% BHA exfoliant is my go to for exfoliation. It clears my pores and any skin congestion, helps to combat any breakouts due to the salicylic acid and visibly reduces the look of texture and hyper-pigmentation.
- Naturium Dew Glow SPF 50– An affordable SPF that helps my skin have a natural, healthy glow is exactly why I love the Naturium Dew Glow. It does not leave a white cast at all and instead of my skin feeling greasy after application, it’s smooth and even works as a makeup primer.
- Clarins Double Serum Light Texture This hydrating and smoothing serum does just what it claims to do. My skin feels plump and hydrated and I have noticed visible smoothness since using this for the last 6 months. It is a little pricey, but to me, it’s worth it.
- CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Treatment Retinol has been the best thing I’ve added to my skincare routine in the last few years. This Resurfacing Retinol treatment evens my skintone by reducing the look of hyper-pigmentation and lightly exfoliating to reveal smoother skin.
- SkinFix Barrier Strengthening Moisturizer As we get older, our skin loses some firmness over time. Adding a moisturizer like the Barrier Strengthening Triple Lipid peptide from Skin Fix has helped my dry skin stay hydrated and plump. The best thing about this moisturizer is that when I apply it at night, I wake up and my skin still feels like I just applied it. It’s soft and supple and fragrance free.
- Vaseline with Cocoa Butter– Vaseline has been a staple in my household since I was a child. I don’t ever recall a time when Vaseline was not included in my beauty routine in some way. I use Vaseline on my knees, elbows, feet and as my under eye cream. Also as a makeup remover, especially for mascara and eyeliner. It’s the most inexpensive, yet most effective beauty product you could own.
Though my skincare shelf is packed to the gils, these products are the ones that I would consider staples. You can view my skincare shelf here for more of my favorites.
