I just returned from a lovely two weeks off with family and some fun in the sun. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to travel that I forgot how to pack. Since I didn’t want to leave home without any makeup or skincare I had to take inventory of what would be most useful for me. And while I was tempted to pack my entire vanity, I decided on 6 products that would give me the look I needed with minimal effort. Save room in your suitcase for souvenirs and pack light with my six makeup essentials for traveling.

Pack The Essentials Only

My first tip is to think practically about where you’re traveling and the activities that you’ll be doing. In my case, I was going to the beach and would be out in the sun the majority of the time. Immediately, I eliminated liquid foundation, false lashes and believe it or not, lipstick. After the beach, I was kicking it with my family and was still low key as possible. If you’re not doing big nights out, or dressing up more than just to grab a bite to eat, leave the heavy stuff at home.

Skin Tints

Leave the full coverage foundation at home and opt for an easy, lightweight skin tint instead. Skin tints provide just enough coverage for a your skin but better makeup look. Besides, if you’re working on your tan, why cover it up with a heavy foundation? Lately, I’ve been using the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint. This is light enough to not feel like you’re wearing any foundation, but gives enough coverage for a flawless look. Eyebrow Pencil

An eyebrow pencil travels with me in my every day purse, so packing it for my trip was a no brainer. Your brows can be on point whether you’re at dinner, or out sightseeing for the day. Also, having your brows right is one of the easiest ways to look put together on the days when you don’t feel like much. My favorite pencil is the E.L.F. Ultra Precise Brow Pencil it’s only $5 and can be found at your favorite drugstore.

Bronzer

Bronzer was a pretty obvious choice for me to pack when traveling. Again, for me bronzer is a product I use daily and is great for giving a sun kissed look. Adding my Mented Cosmetics Sunkissed Bronzer after I had been in the sun all day made me look like a bronzed goddess. Also, bronzer is a multi-use product as you can use it for eyeshadow and in place of blush.

Mascara

If you don’t know by now, false lashes are not my favorite thing to wear. So, packing mascara on my trip was an absolute must. My new favorite go to is the Milani Highly Rated Mascara, it’s lightweight formula gives me the volume I need without the clumps. Honestly, this mascara gives me the look of wearing natural length falsies without the hassle. Concealer

I know I said go light on the face makeup, but roll with me here a minute. I packed my under eye concealer on this trip because for me, my dark circles never take a break. Also, using a dab of under eye concealer is a great way to look refreshed and pulled together with minimal effort. Try the Fenty Bright Fix Eye Brightener for a light touch and cover up of those under eye bags and circles. if you’re looking for a more affordable option, my ride or die concealer is the ELF Cosmetics Hydrating Camo Concealer. Both of these are hydrating and give coverage for dark circles or any touchups that you need.

Lip Gloss & Lip Pencil

A good, pigmented lip gloss is essential in my travel makeup bag. Gloss is a good way to add some color and moisture to your lips on the go. I like to add a colorful lip liner such as coral, red or maroon and a sheer gloss for the illusion of lipstick without the coverage. Right now, I’m OBSESSED with the Maybelline Lifter Gloss- Bronzed Collection. Not only is this lip gloss line affordable and Brown Girl friendly, they give color and hydration for days. The Lifter Gloss is formulated with hyaluronic acid and comes in 20 shades. Check out my full review of these lip glosses here: https://youtube.com/shorts/PsgWt-NG4Jk?feature=share

So there you have my 6 essential makeup items for light travel. It doesn’t take much to look great on your trip with a few items. Let me know what are your makeup travel essentials. Is there anything that you won’t leave home without?

I look forward to reading your comments.
