Mature skin

To say I have a ton of skincare products is an understatement. My bathroom counter and some of my linen closet is filled with creams, serums, face washes and toner. I have collected so many products but there is always a few that I keep coming back to.

I decided to taken an inventory of my top products that I reach for daily. It was hard to narrow them down, and some items that I use the most didn’t make the cut. I wanted to keep the list at 5 otherwise this post would be pages long. So let’s get to it.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil: An oil cleanser that lifts the makeup, dirt and excess oil.

Why I love it: This oil not only removes my makeup, but with my dry skin, it leaves my skin soft and since it’s fragrance free, it’s great for my sensitive skin. I’m a fan of oil cleansing and this oil has been my go-to for some time. You can read more about it in this post

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid: This serum is like a magic potion. It’s made to deliver hydration and offers skin smoothing benefits.

Why I love it: Since I’ve discovered the wonders of Hyaluronic acid this has been the serum I’ve used to see improved hydration in my skin. I have dry skin and using this serum before my moisturizer and my skin is visibly smoother. The best part is the affordability of this product, it retails for about $7.00.

Bliss What A Melon Toner: This refreshing toner is made with watermelon extract, it’s light and made to energize the skin.

Why I love it: This toner is my FAVORITE toner to use in the morning. It’s so refreshing and light and it really does give my skin some pep. The extract of the watermelon does not irritate my skin at all, and it brings some much needed hydration to my morning routine. Using this in the morning as my toner before my sunscreen and my skin stays refreshed all day.

Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant: This liquid exfoliant is a leave on treatment that helps brighten the skin and unclog the pores.

Why I love it: One word, hyper pigmentation. This product has helped with brightening my skin in a major way. I’ve noticed that my skin is more even toned since using this product a few times a week after I cleanse and tone. I have purchased and repurchased this product and will continue to do so as long as it keeps working. Visit Paula’s Choice website for more info:

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum: A serum that has brightening properties such as niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and peach extract helps to hydrate and brighten the skin.

Why I love it: This serum is the truth. Not only is is super hydrating ,but when used together with the skin essence and the antioxidant cream, my skin feels and looks nourished and luminous.

As I stated earlier, these are just a few of my favorite things. As I’ve gotten older, my skin has needed some adjustments in the type of treatment that I give it. Do you have any products that you simply cannot live without?

  1. What other skin care products do you recommend for a basic routine. Trying to help my mother build hers bc she doesn’t have one 😫

  2. @telekendall Hi bae! I like the Youth to the People Superfoods facial wash. I’ve been using it for a few months and I really like that it doesn’t strip my skin. Anything with hyaluronic acid is great for mature skin because it helps with hydration. CeraVe facial wash and their corresponding moisturizer is a great one as well! For eye creams, I like the Clinique Pep Eye Cream, and the Burts Bees eye cream. Bliss has good night serums, Bliss, AM/PM serums which I get from Target. To start a skin care routine : A facial wash, a serum with Hyaluronic acid, a sunscreen for the day time (Black Girl Sunscreen is a great one) and a night cream with peptides, such as the L’Oreal revitalift line and the Neutrogena hydroboost line. Hope this helps!!
